Our history
In 2012, the world of sports, particularly football, offered limited opportunities for those who dreamed of turning their passion into a career. But Diego Valdés saw a parallel world beyond the pitches, a world filled with potential for those who were willing to work for it.
Determined to make a change, Diego pursued a degree in sports management, but found that the education available to him was lacking in practical, industry-specific knowledge and tools. Frustrated with the theoretical and disconnected nature of the courses he was taking, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Fueled by his entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to make a real impact, Diego founded the Sports Business Institute Barcelona (SBI). SBI’s mission is to provide practical, online education taught by industry experts to those who want to work in the football industry.
Since its establishment in 2012, SBI has grown to become a global leader in sports business and football management education. By constantly innovating and partnering with top stakeholders in the industry, SBI offers programs that focus on transformative leadership and help professionals from over 83 countries to optimize their careers and gain opportunities for success.
At SBI, we are passionate about the sports industry, and we are committed to transferring that passion and our close relationships with industry leaders to our community in order to help them grow, network, and lead in this dynamic field.
